What a week this has been. Both in my real life and in my blog life, there has been lots of learning. We have focused our vision on kindness and learning to balance the good things with the challenging and often emotionally difficult things. We have explored the importance of perseverance and not comparing ourselves to others.
So how can we practice these things this weekend?
Do you have an area of your life where you need to persevere? How can you do that in a way that feels good for you?
Do you need to show some kindness to someone? Or maybe to yourself? How might that look this weekend?
Are you locked in comparison with another person? How might you let that go a little bit today?
We owe it to ourselves to practice the difficult parts of life. For me, today, that means stepping out of a very negative cycle of comparison and self-criticism. It means seeing my life for what it is, not what my disordered brain has made it, nor what my protective brain wants it to be.
So this weekend, I am committed to doing the following:
- Stopping myself every time I begin to fall into the spiral of comparison. Particularly in a situation where I feel less-than and I question my value.
- Being kind to the people in my life. We all need a little more kindness.
- Taking better care of myself so that future me doesn’t have to deal with the fallout of today’s actions.
I wish each of you a wonderful weekend. Take care of yourselves. Take care of those you love. I will be taking tomorrow off from the blog and will return on Monday.
