I’m Christine Sharpe, a school principal, writer, potter, and founder of Gather and Ground and The Shared Table, two intertwined projects rooted in a single belief: when we slow down, share what we have, and truly see one another, life becomes richer and more meaningful.
For more than 30 years, I’ve been an educator and leader, guiding schools, staff, and students through growth, change, and possibility. My work as a principal has always been about creating belonging, making sure every child and adult feels seen, valued, and supported. That same philosophy now flows into everything I do beyond the school walls.
At home in London, Ontario, we are creating a new kind of gathering space. The Shared Table began as a simple dream that began more than twenty years ago. A long wooden table surrounded by food, stories, and laughter, and has grown into a movement about connection and community, a place where anyone can find a place to belong. It’s where slow living meets real life, where meals are shared, and friendships take root. Through Gather and Ground, I share the handmade, homegrown, and heartfelt parts of that life: pottery from my studio, seeds, flowers and the harvest from my garden, and stories from the journey.
This next season of my life is about integration, weaving together the teacher, the maker, the leader, and the seeker. I write about leadership, belonging, and mindful living. I create pottery that reminds people to pause and be present. And I invite others to gather, to cook, to share, to connect, to remember that they are not alone.
When I’m not writing or teaching, you’ll find me in my garden, in the pottery studio with clay-covered hands, or cooking something slow and comforting in my (soon to be finished) kitchen with my wife, Nancee. Together, we’re building a life that’s intentionally slower, deliberately connected, and beautifully imperfect.
